London Address Book: Anya Cafe

I spent a lovely (and windy!) Saturday morning at the Anya Cafe, which was created by designer Anya Hindmarch. Located in SW1 within the ‘Anya Village’ this retro cafe is inspired by quintessentially British cafes from decades gone by. This is so in my wheelhouse, I can’t even tell you. Show me a wood panel and formica table and you’ve got my heart, combine this with the brand’s wit and playfulness, and I was smitten.

The cafe serves breakfast and lunch, the welsh rarebit was delicious, but the real jewel in its crown is the cakes. Fun twists on classic biscuits like the Bourbon, Jammy Dodger and even the Teacake, alongside some original creations like Smile Cake and Monster cake, which is made with ‘shaggy’ hazelnut cream. When I say I oooo’ed and ahhhh’d at everything, well that would be an understatement.

I’ve got a bag full of googly eyed sugar cubes, which they serve with every hot drink, with a true to life sized postage stamp biscuit. The attention to detail is perfect and it was a truly lovely experience, definitely one for your London list. Once you’ve finished you can look round the rest of the ‘village’, including Anya’s own twist on the corner shop and different boutiques selling various products from her collections.

One instagram experience that was most definitely not style over substance. Have you been yet?
