Inside Stalf Lincolnshire Based Womenswear

On what must be the sunniest January on record, I took a beautiful sun drenched drive out to the village of Caistor. It is half an hour from Lincoln, and half an hour from where I was born and raised in Cleethorpes, so not exactly the place I’d expect to find a beautiful pink studio like this one. But I am sure glad these kind of things are happening in Lincolnshire, it’s a pleasure to witness. Stalf is a self described ‘easy wear’ brand, created by Paris Hodson in 2015. It’s all designed, and manufactured in this very building in Lincolnshire which is such a wonderful story behind the clothes.

I want to start with looking at the words ‘easy wear’ the brand uses to describe themselves, I was looking for a word and when I saw this one I thought it’s perfect (hence why the brand use it!). Paris started off seven years ago with simple jumpsuit shapes and has expanded both her team and collections. Now you can find lots of versatile separates, dresses and additional jumpsuit styles. From my personal experience it is all so easy to wear, there’s a lot of elasticated waists, empire or a-line cuts and soft jerseys and linens. I wear a lot of the two piece sweats, and I think my other most worn Stalf piece is my pink midi linen dress in both the summer and winter seasons. However other fans of the brand haven’t ever touched a dress, and live in their cocoon trousers, or the overalls. That’s what I love about Stalf, they cater to so many different styles, but one thing I think we are all have in common when we invest in a piece of Stalf clothing is that we know we are going to wear it A LOT.

Their pieces are perhaps more than you might currently spend on a staple, however all their staff are paid above the living wage, and everything can be traced as everything is produced on site. It’s really a magical feeling when you walk into the shop, and on the left hand side you can see the cutting room and the birth of every single piece of the collection right in front of you.

Each piece is cut to order, so it can take a little longer to reach you, but this ensures they have very little waste. If you do want to return it, this then goes into their ‘ready to dispatch’ stock so always take a look there if you’re wanting something a bit quicker. Size wise they include a small to a double extra large, 6-24 UK sizes, definitely do contact them to discuss sizing outside of this range or if you want any advice on how things fit. Every piece in store you can try on in these sizes, and if they don’t have the colour way in the size you want, they can most probably make that up for you with a few exceptions on their limited edition fabrics.

They have a couple of custom options, mainly on length, my midi dress is minus two inches on the length, but on my sweats I get those with an extra two inches as I like to roll the hem up a couple of times. I really like this option to add these little details to each piece. In regards to sales, they don’t do them very often, as they produce exactly what they need, but every January they have 15% off and I believe at the end of every November do bundle options to help you save a bit of money at Christmas. Every so often they will do an end of line sale, if they are discounting a style, if you’re interested at all I would sign up to their newsletter to find out when this happens.

Their new spring collection is launching in a couple of weeks, and here’s a slight sneak preview with the pink linen outfit below. I’ve put an order in for the pink midi skirt you see me wearing here, and I might indeed be back for the matching top, we’ll see!

Have you got any Stalf pieces, or any more questions about the brand? Let me know in the comments!
