Orla Kiely AW17 Campaign

When deciding what content was going to have a home on the new site, I looked back through old posts and issues of the magazine to see what content I loved to create and share. One thing I used to do a lot more is feature lookbooks from my favourite independent designers, as I love championing their talent and the vision they have created through their collections.
Lookbooks are normally the things that land in my inbox and make me gasp and get me all giddy behind my keyboard. Lots of them get screengrabbed and excitedly DMd to Liv Purvis to be discussed as a matter of urgency.
The Orla Kiely Autumn Winter 2017 collection was no exception. Shot by Emma Summerton and styled by Leith Clark, the campaign is inspired by Upper East Side New York in the 1970s. They’ve imagined the world of Diana Vreeland and her marvellous escapism from everyday reality.

Dresses come in the softest organza, plush velvet and printed silks, offset with (faux) fur trimmed tweed coats and velvet patched knitwear. The collection also sees delicate silk blouses and lurex knits in retro silhouettes. But my favourite has to be the jacquard two piece suit, because I am always wearing one of those in my 1970s New York fantasy. In short, I’ve just described my perfect wardrobe and I’ll happily take one of everything please.
