AD: Decluttering a Children’s Bedroom with Very

This post is in paid partnership with very.co.uk.

I can’t believe my daughter has finished her first year at school, insert cliché *where does the time go quote here*. On the day before she finished, I thought getting her room ready for the summer holidays was the best way to channel my emotions, and I’ve got to say it was energy well spent.

We’ve talked about getting her a desk in here for a while, somewhere she can sit and draw, and also utilise this wall as it was rather dead space that just attracted a lot of clutter. Thanks to the selection at Very, it was super easy to put something together for this room.

This wooden desk and chair set was the perfect size for this part of her bedroom, and the best part is it can be customised so easily. I picked up chalk furniture paint in sage and after giving the desk the lightest sand, two coats of this and we are good to go.

Above the desk to give it some focus, I added a rattan shelf unit which can house a few of her more special toys. With most things in our house I like to think should we change this room up that it can be incorporated elsewhere in the house, as it’s a timeless rattan style.

Another favourite way of storing things and tidying up quickly is with rattan baskets, it can even be turned into a quick game: first one to pick up five things is the winner.  Lastly nothing to do with clutter but I thought a nice linen refresh would finish the room off nicely, I picked this gingham and striped reversible set, because I couldn’t say no to two of my favourite patterns in one.

What do you think to the final results? Who knows how long it will stay tidy for…
